T3 varient engine

T3 varient engine

does anybody know if a varient engine is easy to fit into a early bay as im looking for a something reliable or would a aircooled T25 be better ?

Not entirely sure but i was under the impression that most air cooled (Type1) engines were pretty much the same although bus engines have three extra bolt holes under the pulley wheel for the engine support bar. You can buy an adapter that will allow you to install an engine without the extra holes. Maybe Jason will know for sure Question

Cheers think i might go for the easy option of another 1600TP if you know of anyone who might have a spare

As Jake says really billybong.....type 3 engines are pretty much just a type 1 engine once you get it all stripped down. I put a fasty lump in my first bus 20 odd years ago and it was pretty straight forward from what I remember....as Jake says you can get a bracket to allow you to fit the rear mount bar.

Type 4 lumps require a fair bit of work to convert them to upright cooling so the type 3 would be your easiest option.

well folks i have gone for the T3 lump from a chap near me the only problem is its missing a dipstick holder that goes into bottom on casing to hold dipstick dont suppose any of you have a old one kicking about either email me or text its john.a.sutton@btopenworld.com or 07947649115
